If your house, business or place where your computer is falls out of the narrow band that keeps data secure, then you can lose everything.
I’m not saying mobile is a good thing, in fact I think their strategy is to squeeze the orange (customer) for all they are worth with out of date tech (checkout ARM vs PC genuine benchmarks, and performance)
Ultimately distributed things (like Figma) will always offer benefit over stand-alone (local PC). If investors are wasting money on local-PC solutions again, it’s probably because of a lack of innovation and unwillingness to build expressive, standards-compliant client solutions.
Web browsers are virtually as useless today as they were in 1999, save a few improvements they have uniformly failed to keep up. Same with game engines and any other established technology.
The next big thing won’t fall into existing paradigms. It can’t. they are already not good enough.
