Local Maker Alert: Penola
One of the great things about living in the Lewisham Borough is that there are some glorious local people, making some terrifically tasty produce. One such example is Penola. Only round the corner from us in Catford, we tracked her down to give her a good Lewisham Licking….
So tell us… just why should the good people of Lewisham buy your granola?
People are craving genuine food made with real ingredients that are healthy and tasty. Penola offers a perfect breakfast and snack selection. I home bake in small batches, my Penola Granola has no added sugar, is gluten free and vegan.
The good people of Lewisham who have been enjoying Penola so far tell me they have had it as an alternative dessert, taken it to the pictures instead of popcorn as well as using it as a topping to jazz up their porridge!

What’s your favourite place to shop/eat/drink locally?
I love to shop at Good Food and The Larder when I can get to Ladywell.
I also love Tiger in Lewisham! Gorgeous Gifts in Catford is another favourite of mine for gifts, aromatherapy oils and handmade soaps.
I am enjoying having Archibald’s, Arlo & Moe near me and The Cafe of Good Hope has been a firm favourite for many years.
I also loved being able to drink at Bob’s intimate bar in November.. do hope he comes back.
What would be your top tip or hidden treasure of the local area?
Gorgeous Gifts in Catford.
Mamas Pot (Caribbean cafe in Catford).
The Burrito Man (van on Catford Broadway).
And Beckenham Place Park for a brisk Sunday walk.
If you could be locked in overnight in the anywhere Borough where would it be?
Good Food….nom nom.
Or Catford Broadway for spook factor. Bet there are a few tales in those walls.

Ooooh this is tough.. on a hot day nothing beats a twister!
