Hi Jon, just read this post on networking and have to say I agree with 90% of your post and even though I FEEL just as you do and want those genuine relationships they are harder to find in large groups with timeframes. The 10% of my own input from experience of networking events is that there is not enough time. There is not enough time in those 2 hours to say hello to everyone and get into those conversations. Most of the time I go to network I speak with as many people as I can and ask for their contact info if I feel we clicked and I would actually keep in touch. I don’t carry around business cards but ask to connect on LinkedIn where I can later follow up and have those significant conversations over private messages.
