Little Weed

Driving —

I’m at the wheel

My companion not seeing

Stopping at a traffic light

There — a dandelion, one flower

Growing in a crack in the sidewalk

I thought, “Pluck it; it shouldn’t be there”

But thought better of it

How valiant, how courageous

Dandelion —

Struggling to survive with little nourishment and

Many, like me, who might have trampled you before you could regenerate —

And still you live, under the most difficult conditions —

Despite all adversity

Struggle on, little weed, little flower.

A weed is only a flower unwanted,

And you are beautiful in your strength.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
