How to File a Complaint at Work the Right Way
You’re going through some issues at work and you need help on how to resolve it? Your complaint probably involves an incident that caused physical or emotional harm, and it may have happened once or is now a pattern that you can no longer live with. You might turn to your work buddies for emotional support. It definitely helps to have someone you can trust and talk to at work, but unfortunately, they cannot speak for you even if they wanted to. You need to contact someone with authority to help.
I am a specialist in Employee Relations so I have had my share of people call with issues at work. Mostly they need to vent about a situation that made them feel stressed or uncomfortable and want to speak with someone neutral who will not judge them for what they are going through. Sometimes the situations may require a bit more than just venting. When an issue requires action, one thing stops people from speaking up: retaliation. They are afraid of making an unpleasant situation worse.
