This was extremely condescending to women and minorities and comes accross as pandering. The people with the issue here are the ones who get overly emotional from other people’s opposing opinions making them unable to interpret said opinions. Minorities and women have thicker skin than what you’re suggesting. They aren’t drowning in need of a rope.

James Damore was talking about population level distributions, not individuals. He was talking about interest not ability directly. He was talking to his colleagues at google, in which case it shouldn’t matter whether he or they are white males or not. It got leaked and now it’s a conversation for everyone, white male or otherwise.

In a debate, you need to know other people’s opinions to refute them, to prove them wrong. In a conversation there is more than just one side, otherwise the conversation never progresses.
