What Happens when you go Solar

Hello, my name is Tyler Kowitz and I have a solar system on top of my roof. It all started 6 months ago after my wife and I purchased our new home in Fresno to raise our future family. We talked it over and decided on a long term beneficial goal for us. We wanted, to the best of our ability, to reduce our electric bill in order to help save money for our family’s future.
The obvious first step that I decided to take was researching about solar online. I had to figure out, did I need it? How much might it cost? How was it installed? Do I have to be concerned with different kinds of panels? What are inverters? How long would the process take? A swarm of questions mixed in my mind as I tried my best to sort out all of this information.
After a week of using my google-fu skills, I felt confident enough to talk to solar sales representatives without being bombarded with more information than I could understand. I felt confident enough to ask the questions that mattered when it came to the potential solar systems what would be providing for my family for the years to come. When I started calling and asking for quotes, it seemed like almost every week I had a solar salesperson inside or around my home talking to me or taking a look at my roof. When the field had cleared and I had an idea of two or three possible companies I might go with, I decided to delve deeper since it never hurts to learn and know more. I will talk about my company of choice, and not poorly of their competitors because in the end, it was Lifestyle Solar that I chose.
I met with a man named Scott Crumble who was tall, sociable, and very friendly. He explained to me more information about the panels and inverters that Lifestyle Solar offered. He talked about payment options, including prepaid leasing, a HERO program, cash, and financing. During the process I felt very informed about my possible choices and Scott was very knowledgeable in all aspects of the process; undoubtedly he had gone through all of this several times before. I ended up going with Lifestyle Solar and decided to purchase my system through the HERO program which I ended up qualifying for on the spot. With knowledge of my power usage and after a surveyor from the company came out to measure roof information, Scott was confident Lifestyle Solar would be able to design a system to not only meet my current needs, but to be able to accommodate a family in the future as well.
The whole process from meeting Scott, to the installation, to the permit approvals, to my solar system being turned on was about two and a half months, and I am overall very happy with the results. I have a 7kW system which has cut away my electric bill.
So what happens when you go Solar? My electric bill is gone and PG&E pays me for power I provide would be the most obvious answers, but I see beyond that. In the hot Fresno summer I can run my AC at a lower temperature to have a much cooler house during the hot day. I use my power tools in the garage with bright lights illuminating my work. My wife has decided to buy a small treadmill to run on when it gets too hot outside. Our solar system will pay for itself in a few years, far from when our planned for child starts high school. All of the money that would otherwise be leaving our pockets to go to our utility company can go toward our family. This is what happens when you go solar. Thank you Lifestyle Solar.
