This caught my attention after reading Richard Kerby’s TC piece, “Who Is A VC?” (http://techcrunch.com/2016/02/10/who-is-a-vc) which, unfortunately, has not made it to Strictly VC, Mattermark, or CB Insights yet.

You give sound and insightful advice to aspiring associates and accurately reflect what seems to be the status quo (down to the men’s button-up shirt).

I find it agreeable overall with the exception of one part I’ve been thinking about lately, and that is the expectation of humility. I’ve always considered it an admirable trait, but in light of the troublesome power dynamics and double standards that the innovation economy is increasingly critiqued for, I’ve found cause to break away from this dogma.

I’d like to empathetically submit for your consideration the following perspective:
