My Peyton Post-Super Bowl Predictions

- Broncos win and Peyton rides off into the sunset- This is what so many people are hoping for, but don’t see happening. Panthers are a 5.5 point favorite over the Broncos thanks to a sensational Cam Newton performance this year. Not many football fans feel like the Broncos even have a chance… but wouldn’t that make this storyline THAT much better if it happened? Panthers are having a season that are only rivaled by the ‘85 Bears (won Super Bowl XX) and the ‘07 Patriots (lost Super Bowl XLII), the only two other teams that have finished a season at 18–1 in NFL history. So to have Peyton play well against one of the best teams in NFL history, would be the perfect exclamation mark to an amazing career. Winning 2 Super Bowls in 4 appearances might make the “Tom vs Peyton” competition closer in the eyes of people that weigh rings heavily on that debate (I feel like that’s wrong to do, however, as ive mentioned in an earlier piece I wrote). Finally, The Sheriff can ride off into the sunset on his Bronco… then get off that bronco and retire as a Colt (being a Colts fan that’s what I’m hoping for, but wouldn’t be surprised if he retired as a Bronco… upset but not surprised).
- Peyton plays horrible in the Super Bowl and decides to play one more year- Peyton is arguably one of the best quarterbacks of all time during the regular season. He’s racked up 5 MVP awards and 539 TD passes, both are NFL records. That’s probably why so many fans were surprised by his performance during his games this year, throwing 17 interceptions. He’s old as far as NFL players go and was hurt throughout the year… He sure played like it this season. Not the same Peyton we’ve seen in past years. He’s also notorious for not playing as well in the playoffs. Even in the years Peyton awestruck fans during the regular season, he would often throw a crucial interception in the playoffs. Peyton only has 24 interceptions in 26 playoff games, however, the timing of these interceptions have lead to 9, first playoff game, losses (a.k.a. 9 One and done’s). If the old and hurt Peyton of the regular season meets the over pressured Peyton of playoffs… this could be an extremely ugly Super Bowl to watch for Peyton and Bronco fans. Peyton is a very driven person, and has mentioned before that he would play another year, even if it wasn’t for the Broncos. Being the person he is, I don’t think he could handle another Super Bowl loss. Especially if he played badly in it. That’s not how any of us want to see Peyton leave the game, nor do I think he wants to end that way. But I feel that might be the case. Who will pick up such an old quarterback, especially after the year he’s had, for just one year? Rams have shown interest. I just hope this scenario doesn’t happen… being from Indy, I can’t see a legend of this city play so badly for another year. I hope he retires no matter what, I just don’t see it.
If anybody else has post-Super Bowl Peyton predictions, please share!! I’d love to hear what people’s opinions are on my thoughts and some other predictions out of the two I’ve mentioned!
