When Netflix announced a film about on Prince Andrew’s famous Newsnight interview, it elicited an unconvinced shrug.

The story is clearly an interesting one but is it film worthy? It’s debatable and the finished product certainly doesn’t dismiss the doubts.

Scoop is certainly interesting, offering fascinating insight into one of the more talked about moments of the last decade, particularly for the British Royal Family.

But it doesn’t really do much more than that. Indeed, it feels a little rushed despite clocking in at an hour and 45 minutes, like another longer part at the end was cut out. You get the set up, the interview itself and then a hastily tagged on conclusion where everyone goes back to what they were doing.

That’s not to say Scoop is bad, indeed it is terrifically acted, it’s just not quite up to the standard of similar films such as say, Spotlight.
