Camping or traveling: What you cannot forget.

When you decide to go camping, it is important to double-check everything you have packed to make sure you haven’t left anything behind. Once you get to your campsite, it will be hard to obtain items that you may have forgotten. The campsite might have a small store with some of the items, but if you are not at a public campground, you will be out of luck. Your only alternative would be to find a town to buy the items you need. If you are far from civilization, that might not be cost-effective or worth the time lost that you would have camping. Here are some of the essentials that would be missed if you forgot to pack them.

Shades

In warmer weather, sunglasses are a great thing to have to help keep sun glare out of your eyes. You would be able to enjoy scenic views without having to squint. If it is an exceptionally sunny day, they will make it easier to endure.

Bug Spray

Bug spray is something that you would want to have on a camping trip. While you could live without it, it would be annoying to be swatting at insects the entire time. You will have to keep moving to keep bugs away from you.

Bathing Suit

Forgetting a bathing suit has to be one of the worst feelings when it is discovered that it has not been packed. Camping often revolves around swimming in lakes or rivers. If it is a hot day, you will be kicking yourself for forgetting this important piece of cloth. You will have to resort to going into the water with shorts on, or if you are a bit more daring you will be going in with underwear while pretending it is fashionable swimwear. Have someone available with a towel so you can run out quickly if it is see-through. Better yet, stick to the shorts.

Matches

A source for making fire is something you really don’t want to forget when camping, especially if you can’t grub a light from a neighboring campsite. If you are camping in rainy conditions, you are sunk. You will be stuck eating food that is cold and uncooked until it dries out enough to start a fire by hand. Hopefully, you know how to do this or it will be a vacation of cold food the entire time. Next time, make sure to bring a lighter or a book of matches.

Sneakers Or Hiking Shoes

If you happen to drive to the campsite and realize that the only pair of shoes you have are the sandals or flip-flops on your feet, you will be having some difficulties around the campsite. You will need to be extra-careful that you do not injure your feet while wearing shoes where they are exposed to the elements. You might want to avoid hiking or doing anything too strenuous where you could have an injury.

Sleeping Bag

Forgetting to pack a sleeping bag would be pretty awful. You would need to sleep inside your tent without having much in the way of cushioning. You can try to roll up some of your clothing to use for comfort. You might have to put on a few extra layers to stay warm at night, as well.

Emergency Kit

If you fail to bring along an emergency kit, you will need to be extra careful that you do not get hurt while camping. You will need to rely on leaves for bandages and sticks for splints.

Toiletries

If you forget to bring soap and shampoo, you will need to be prepared to feel a little grungy by the time your trip is coming to an end. You can wash with these things in lakes or public bath-houses, but if you forget toiletries, you will end up really roughing it.

VSAT or Satellite Internet

We’re living in tomorrow where connectedness is essentially an necessity. Unless the reason for your vacation is to become disconnected with the digital world, having something to keep you connected is going to be important for work, recreation and potentially even your safety. Looking into an I-direct modem option or a satellite internet dish, isn’t a bad idea for your trip.

Cookware

Forgetting to bring something to cook food inside will pose to be quite a problem. You will be forced to eat things that you can put on the end of a stick to heat over the flame. You will be relying on cold snacks to eat, as well. Cooking materials is a pretty important part of camping, so try to remember to pack these things the next time you decide to go camping in the wilderness.

Tent

Forgetting to pack your tent would be pretty scary overall. You will be exposed to all elements and you will not be able to get away from small creatures or insects. You would need to sleep out in the open, making you a bit vulnerable. If you forget your tent, you would not have somewhere to dry off, to change your clothing out of view of others, or somewhere to retreat when you feel like resting away from any other people who came along on the trip. It would be uncomfortable over all and you might want to drive somewhere to get a tent if this happens.

Car Insurance

Being an outsider, or a visitor makes you more likely to be a victim. Recently, Progressive Insurance conducted a study and found that Nine out of 10 of the highest car theft dates occurred between July and September. This means that travel season is also theft season as well. If you haven’t gotten a car insurance quote prior to planning your trip, it’s a wise idea to put that on your check list.
