Design is for everyone. The best products emerge from highly collaborative teams, on which designers are shepherds of design rather than gatekeepers. Where engineers, PMs, marketers, and others are empowered to participate, and educated with an understanding of design so everyone can be a part of creating a usable, delightful product.
…n conflict with journalism’s primary goal: to educate and inform the public about important issues. When the papers say, “this is so important that we’re making it free,” they’re simultaneously saying that all the other stuff they publish doesn’t really matter, so they’ll charge you for it. It’s hard to imagine a business philosophy that’s more upside-down.
No matter what convention you are using, what’s crucial is to have consistency throughout the project. Once everyone knows how to apply these simple rules, they will become an extremely powerful tool to save everyone a lot of time, stress and grey hair.
