Juliette Pelletier

…is a mixed-media artist (@pelletierjuliette ) and owner of Juliette Solutions based in NYC.
👽 What’s the weirdest thing that has happened to you since focusing on your passion?
👽I was one of four American artists invited to participate in an artist in residency with the Sichuan University. Every now and again a large bus filled with government officials with suits would show up to the studios to do a spot check to make sure we were not creating any art considered ‘dissension’. On one occasion, one of the officials loved my work and came back with his family and bought 3 drawings.
🥓 How did you get into your work?
🥓I have been creating since I can remember. My mother is an artist and when I was about 18 months old, she sat me on a a roll of kraft paper with crayons, and I went at it. I have sketch books from when I was 4 years old, until literally today.
✨Who / what are some sources of inspiration?
✨Definitely my mother who is also a baroque guitarist and early music specialist, and has introduced me to some obscure and amazing musicians from many centuries past which I paint to. I have also lived in 8 countries spanning 5 continents, so experiencing so many other cultures has been a major inspiration, both consciously and unconsciously, in my work.
💼 What are you currently working on?
💼 I am developing a series involving cyborgs , monoliths and ‘alien’ alphabets inspired for my love of all things science fiction. Concurrently, I also started my own business, Juliette Solutions, servicing artists and non-profits in fundraising, events and communications. I have been working in fundraising for many years, so this is a liberating departure from the full-time job. My clients include the Alport Syndrome Foundation, Micro Museum, May Kids Transform, Metipso Portal in Kenya and SOS Galgos in Barcelona.
