And so,
I will drink
This whiskey
And pray for its rust
To build me an iron heart

And when it rattles,
When it bangs with life

I will close these eyes,
And summon my tears
To fall on another land

For I wish only for salt
To appear in a crevice
In a corner
That I can wipe
Clean

Watch how I rise
Only for my wings to be clipped
Feathers float
They are lifted
On a gentle breeze

Arms outstretched
I reach out to the blue above
Desperate to grab, and hold
And cling
To what is meant to carry me to
My Tomorrow
It lies beyond my reach
And what better way to arrive
Than flight

But my wings!
My feathers have escaped them

My heart becomes a hammer
These hands full of dreams
Become a fist
And I know what I must do

I have to run

A star explodes
And trails across the sky
I remember you
I remember the days of us gone by

#2

Here I stand
A kaleidoscope of purple, blue and grey
And early morning peach rays
Because of
You

— — — — — — — — — —

#3

You are
Hazy
A white out
A fog so thick
I have to reach for a straw
To drink you in

#1

Look up
And let bird song set your heart
A flight

— — — — — — — — — —

#2

I reach
I stretch
I unfurl
And then tomorrow I will glow

#3

Blush brighter
Little firefly
The days are dark
But you have become my night light
