Tough Mudders Never Quit

So it’s been over a week again. There’s a big surprise but honestly I have been quite busy.

Work — I got back to normality again last week but then we were tasked with a big job, we have to remove invasive plants from a river before a new road is built over it. One day was spent trying to sort out the health & safety side of things to keep the contractors happy. Jeekers who’d have thought a simple little fun-yak could be such a big pain on the ass. Needless to say common sense prevailed, this time. Then we spent a lovely day out on the river removing the plants. The job has turned out to be bigger than first thought so I am giving up a day off to finish the job. We did have a lovely lunch and were really well looked after by the staff at The Creamery Can in Glarryford, guess where I’m going for lunch tomorrow?!

Play — I love catching up with friends but why does it always have to happen when we’ve something planned. On Saturday our great friends had a BBQ. The company was brilliant and the food was amazing. Usually when we all get together it’s messy for everyone and always really late but this time we had to leave early we had big plans the next day. I was really surprised that my OH gave me the nod at 11.30pm to head home. I mean he had just downed 5 guiness in a matter of minutes and I am sure he could’ve taken more if he had more. But his sensible head kicked in and we made out goodbyes. I think everyone understood when they realised the torture we were about to endure on Sunday.

The Randomers take on Tough Mudder, again

So on Sunday Rab, Lara, hubby and I took part in Tough Mudder Ireland (can’t say it’s Dublin as it was in County Meath this time). I was nervous to say the least having completed one the previous year, yes that makes me a Mudder Legionaire now apparently. OH and I had a really early start, leving the house at 6.30am. It didn’t help that I couldn’t sleep the night before but we got to Rab and Lara’s just 3 minutes late. We packed their van and headed off to Co. Meath. The men in the front and the ladies in the back. There was some random talk going on with both sides of the van. Poor Lara, I am sure, was bored to death with my constant ramblings. We arrived at the site and were really surprised at the lack of crowds. Last year the place was bunged and it was a free for all at the obstacles. Not the case this year, only 750 were taking part on Sunday. We did the pledge, we took off and it wasn’t long before I realised the lack of training wasn’t helping. We finished after crawling through mud, climbing over walls and generally having a right giggle. Poor OH had to take on the electric shocks while the rest of us could try a hanging obstacle, needless to say I hung and fell. I aim to work on my upper body strength and reduce the amount of weight they have to carry too. We grabbed a pile of free stuff and headed home. I am sore and stiff from the trials but had great fun again with great people.

Happy as a pig in S***

Are you bored yet? I am lol. As far as the healthy eating has gone, it hasn’t. The only thing I’ve tried to do is drink more water and that has been stop start due to working outside and also crawling through mud, glar and water. Back to butts today. So Hooraa to this week and to the ramblings of a trying to get fit mother of 3 wanting to do more, see more and generally act the eejit.
