Hello everybody. The LISK project and it’s enthusiasts are always busy, and this week past has certainly been no exception.

Seeing is believing, so here is a recap of the highlights and interesting items from the past week on the LISK subreddit and beyond…..

Elite group open their second Lisk incubator, this time in Tokyo.

Lisk Focused Incubator Opening in Japan at the End of January.

First there was one in Xiamen, China, and now towards the end of this month Elite group open their second Lisk incubator, this time in Tokyo, Japan. When the Xiamen, China incubator opened representatives of Elite said its purpose was “to improve the creative environment” and they are carrying this mission forward to the “Land of the Rising Sun”.

A grand opening event to mark the establishment of this base in Japan will take place on Friday, January the 25th, running from 7:00 PM — 9:00 PM JST. The event will begin with a video message from Lisk CEO Max Kordek, followed by an overview from the manager of the Incubator. The final talk of the night will be given by Dr. David Zhang, CEO of BTC Box Co. Ltd. BTC Box operates a Bitcoin exchange in Japan which has been running since 2014. It should be a good night, and I am looking forward to a report and some images to fill the Lisk community in following the launch.

If you have an idea that you think will aid the Lisk project and are interested in joining the incubator, then you can contact Elite Center at aslan@elitecenter.io with an introduction and overview of your project’s goals and needs.

KuCoin offers buyers a sense of confidence in the token and thus should make it a more solid trade.

Lisk Upgraded to a Curated Area of a Cryptocurrency Exchange.

The Hong Kong based cryptocurrency exchange, KuCoin, has announced that the Lisk token is to move up from their main mass market channel to their KuCoin Plus Trading Area. This comes off the back of the KuCoin team closely monitoring and analyzing all the projects in the KuCoin markets and curating a list of “worthy” cryptocurrencies. The benefit to a token being promoted to this curated area is that it offers buyers a sense of confidence in the token and thus should make the token a more solid trade. Once tokens are promoted, KuCoin users can assume that these projects are well performing, are solid, and have less risk than the tokens traded in the main market.

To be upgraded, projects must meet three seperate criteria.

  1. Tokens must be ranked in the top 40 on coinmarketcap.com

2. The project needs to rank in the top 10% for trading volume out of all projects listed on KuCoin for two months consecutively

3. The project must also be highly rated by KuCoin’s internal review system

Tokens will be regularly rated after the initial rating, so here’s hoping that the Lisk token stays in the KuCoin Plus Trading Area for a long, long time to come.

You can read the full announcement relating to the Lisk token upgrade here.

Lisk’s Tech Evangelist speaks on Tech Podcast and Discusses Tech Evangelism in the Blockchain Space.

Tech Evangelist for the Lisk project, Rachel Black, recently spoke with Chris Ward (aka Chris Chinchilla) on the “Weekly Squeak” podcast. After 15 years as a developer Chris Chinchilla now podcasts and blogs as he “loves to explain cool tech to the world”. His interview segment with Rachel was fast moving, friendly and conversational. However Chris pulled no punches with some of his questions and pressed Rachel on a lot of issues that the Lisk community commonly inquire about. Rachel performed really well however. She was honest and upfront regarding what Lisk is and isn’t, it’s progress, and it’s future.

You can find the interview here.

Rachel’s segment starts from about 16.30 in. It is well worth a listen.

Lisk Welcomes Back Guido Schmitz-Krummacher.

Back in July 2018 Guido stepped down as a board member of the Lisk Foundation to allow him concentrate his efforts on being an independent blockchain and cryptocurrency expert. The Lisk Foundation wasted no time and filled his seat on the board with Pascal Schmid, a finance expert, especially in companies in the industrial and financial sector. You can view the official Lisk blog post on Pascal’s appointment in 2018 here.

So, we thought Guido was gone for good. Imagine my surprise yesterday when Lisk HQ tweeted out “The Lisk Foundation’s office in Zug, Switzerland has a new Managing Director, Legal Counsel, and Accounting Manager”, with an attached image of Max, Oliver and Guido, arms around each other in an office environment. Guido was back, and his new role is as the Managing Director for the Lisk Foundation! This means he will be responsible for maintaining and developing all aspects of the Lisk Foundation. His primary focus will be its administrative, legal and financial wellbeing. With the expansion of the Zug office, Guido will oversee sourcing top talent to join him in supervising the activity of that office. Having been involved previously with the Krummacher Group who specialize in talent management and HR-innovation, should surely stand Guido in good stead when sourcing top talent.

The official Lisk blog has further details of the appointment here.

Welcome back, Guido!

Lisk Community Member Ponders Our Automated Future.

u/delegate_endro, (@delegateendro on twitter), who describes himself as “a Lisk delegate with a mission to assist and help out the Lisk community” has written an analysis on how humanity can provide governance over an automated world. The piece comes with a stark warning that “essentially all jobs involving human labor will disappear in the 21st century”, and if both personal and governance preparations are not put in place then we may be not only be out of a job, but also left at the mercy of corporations who will then control all the processes that are vital for our survival eg. food, shelter, communication etc.

Blockchain and open-source technology are touched on as two elements that can add back in the trust that corporations tend to shake off. Seeing what a process looks like internally whether through it being open-source and/or delivered via the blockchain allows a certain sense clarity and mental comfort. This partial solution segues nicely into Endros introduction of the reader into the delegated proof of stake consensus method. This then eventually leads the reader on to Endro’s introduction to the Lisk project. The article, titled “Job automation — Prepare for a world where everything will be automated”, is available for all to read HERE, and both endro and I would like to ask you to “clap up” the story so that it gets as much visibility as possible on the Medium website.

Also bearing in mind the sort of initiative as the creation of this article, please consider Delegate Endro when you come to vote. More about what he offers can be found HERE.
