LivingOffset aims to decarbonbise the economy. This is how.

LivingOffset directly addresses one of humanity’s largest problems today. The decarbonisation of the economy. LivingOffset directly tackles emissions in the land use and Non-ETS sector (that accounts of 60% of emissions world-wide). Emissions from the ag, transport and building sectors are on the rise. This is being caused by the current lack of a climate instruments available to mobilise citizens into bottom up action, indeed this is currently restricted to the Reduce, Reuse & Recycle movement. We all understand that this is not enough for European member states to reach their mandated carbon targets and could cause dire consequences to the global community.

LivingOffset is a digitised greenhouse gas reduction programme that allows individuals to offset their lifestyle emissions. Our Blockchain App goes even further by transferring knowledge to consumers about the carbon footprint of their consumables and categorises emissions into lifestyle categories. Over time users will learn and understand the activities/consumption associated with the largest emissions from their own emissions, giving them the opportunity to change their own behaviour. In essence, by using the LivingOffset platform people can align their actions and choices with science based targets.

LivingOffset breaks internationally recognised AEAeq into amounts equal to the carbon footprint of everyday goods and services. The fractionalisation process overcomes a big issue for pilot European domestic offset programmes, namely cost of abatement.

A blockchain ecosystem, LivingOffset allows consumers and business users to offset against local projects from the difficult to mitigate multi-point emission source sectors.

As individuals lower their personal consumptive emissions, they will be in fact lowering emissions from the NON-ETS sector. A registry of emission reduction projects will be listed on the immutable blockchain, providing transparency and integrity to the claimed GHG reductions.

Within the ecosystem we have built in two flexible mechanism for inclusivity.

Firstly, 15% of all offsetting transactions must utilise carbon credits from the developing world. PoA CER’s are a good example of carbon credits to be sold on the platform with high social impact. The main reason for this is to align the LivingOffset ecosystem with the “effort sharing Principle”.

Secondly, for corporates we have adopted a one-to-one matching programme whereby corporate social responsibility budgets can match endusers offsetting. This adds to our sustainability fund which will be used to create a circular economy, using waste carbon as the feedstock.

The LivingOffset team views our solution as a panacea to the climate change problem as it creates awareness and knowledge transfer to consumers around the world. LivingOffset teaches people the main emission sources from the economy via our GHG reduction projects listed and the carbon signature of lifestyle activities via the app data providing carbon footprints for a whole range of products and services. Fundamentally, the LivingOffset ecosystem puts a price on carbon, allowing consumers and businesses alike to change their behaviours, by reducing their individual carbon emissions and offsetting their consumption against local and developing world GHG reduction projects. Thereby, creating a decarbonised economy to overcome the CapX of renewable technlogy solutions.
