Hitchhiking pegando carona
Why, how, when, where, who with, what for?
There are many questions about Hitchhiking. The main question, on the other hand, is why not!?
I’ve chosen hitchhiking, first of all, because I can. That’s the point! It should be the first option for every person who is not on a rush. If you have one or two hours to wait for a lift, why are you going to pay to take a dirty crowded tiny slow bus?
Another important point is about economics and resources. The only role that we play on the way that we want, that we’re free to choose, is when we’re paying, consuming. Not on the job when we have to obey the boss and rules, not discussing on Facebook, but only buying.
And when we expend money paying for traveling we are stimulating people working for petrol and mining industry, both things that I don’t really need, because I can hitchhiking.
Actually the main goal of traveling for long time is avoid the use of unnecessary thing, the complete detachment. That’s why my first topic was about how to bag, because it’s the first step of self known about what do you really need for living and what you can detach.
My first hitchhiking
I’ve taking a urban bus in Sao Paulo to the first city in 116 road to Curitiba. The bus goes to Juquitiba.
The bus stopped on the first gas station to refill, I tried to take a lift with everyone on that place and I haven’t gotten. Before the bus leave I entered back in the bus and the drive dropped me in a second gas station.
There I’ve gotta a lift in 20 seconds, like magic. It was a new, clean, comfortable, beautiful tank truck. Have a look:
The driver, Michael, was a show himself: a 31yo guy from Santa Catarina who has 10 kids of 6 mothers in 4 states.
One interesting point that is important is that there’s more trucks then cars on this road.
So you should hitichhiking trucks from sp to Curitiba
