Oh, Ok, Apparently the Trump Shooter Was a Trans Woman
Apparently a few right-wing accounts on Twitter found a picture of a random transgirl and are comparing it to photos of Thomas Crooks, the man who shot Trump.
I think it might have originated with this account, at least on Twitter.
A community note on the post shows it originated on a 4chan thread. Specifically /pol/ or Politically Incorrect. The person who started the rumor was asked if it was true and said, ‘Not really but spreading rumors is fun and everybody hates NATO.’
You can’t really tell where engagement farming begins and conspiracy brain ends here.
This is just like when they accused a random transgirl of being the Uvalde shooter. The terrifying thing is that it’s actually the exact same story. The shooter was identified as Salvador Ramos and pictures of him were being circulated then a 4chan thread on /pol/ or Politically Incorrect started sharing a picture of a transgirl that looked like Ramos, along with her Reddit profile.
From there is got to Candace Owens and then Paul Gosar, a Republican member of the House of Representatives and then another one, Pete Sessions.
