Stonewall
Stonewall Columbus.
How dare you not speak out against the slaughtering of children.
How dare you not condemn genocide.
How dare you have sponsors complicit in genocide.
How dare you work with white supremacists and the police.
You do not represent the queer community.
You do not represent the disabled community.
You are beholden to capitalist greed, corporate donors, and your own privilege.
You do not speak for the queer community.
You do not speak for the disabled community.
You speak only to protect your privilege while our rights are criminalized away, while we are targeted, while we are attacked, and while we are forced to the fringes of society where we die.
We will not sit idly by and allow you to continue. We resist you in the name of liberation. We refute you in the name of all oppressed people.
If you are wondering what you would do during slavery or during the holocaust, you are doing it now.
If you are wondering what you would do during the AIDS pandemic, you are doing it now. You don’t even wear a mask to protect your community despite the ongoing pandemic.
We are dying because of your complacency.
We are being killed because of your inaction.
Pride started as an uprising and will always be an uprising.
Why do you not join us in the streets? Why do you support a parade of privileged charlatans and corporate interests? Why do you not fight for your community?
These streets belong to the people. Pride belongs to the people.
Your vote will not save democracy and it will not save you from fascism as fascism is already here and all around us.
We live under an authoritarian oligarchy.
Where our lives worthless unless you sell your soul to their bottom line.
Where our “elected leaders” are bought and paid for.
Elected leaders that have no solutions to any crisis but to increase policing and incarceration.
Elected leaders that authorize surveillance, brutalization, and repression of us when we speak up — all under the farce of keeping us safe.
What is happening in Palestine, in Sudan, and the Congo is happening here too, yet you choose to not see it because you have turned a blind eye to the suffering and death in your own community.
Your neighbors are struggling, they are sick, they are disabled, & some are homeless because you choose to care only about yourself and not for your community. Indeed, even your own wages are stolen and your rights abused, and yet you hesitate to act because it is easier for you to maintain the status quo.
Look at those around you.
See the fear, anger, anxiety, & trauma your community carries.
See the joy, love, and resilience being repressed, too.
Resonate with the warmth and connection of your community and understand the power and strength we have when we are united.
Liberation now. Free Palestine.
