Today we were asked by a community member on our Telegram channel, what would be the difference if you were to book the same property via LockChain’s marketplace, compared to Airbnb.

We will take this property as an example: https://abnb.me/EVmg/gYJrcwiYhI

AirBnb’s pricing:

We are looking to book January 11–12th

2 nights x 312.36 + cleaning fee + 112.97 commissions which you pay upon checkout (these commissions are not shown on the property listing page)

A total of $867.27

LockChain’s take: https://lockchain.co/marketplace/property.php?property_id=4&currency=USD

2 nights x $303 + $129.58 (cleaning fees) and 0 commission= $735.58

Airbnb, adds a 3% to the property page price (they take 3% from host and 17% from client). Which is why our nightly stay is $303, compared to Airbnb’s $312.

So let’s compare the two:

$867.27 (airbnb) vs $735.58 (lockchain)… Payable in LOC as well!

Saving the guest $131.69 in a just 2 nights stay!

The above example excludes appreciation of LOC value. So if for example you bought some LOC which appreciated 15% in value, you would actually be saving around 36% as a cumulative effect!

Out of this, how much would the host receive if they were to go with LockChain vs Airbnb?

Exactly the same amount! The main difference between LockChain’s marketplace and AirBnb, is commission and the additional 20% ( they say it’s 3%, but in fact they take an additional 17% from the client upon checkout).

Just goes to show that LockChain’s marketplace will be much more attractive to a guest looking to book their next stay!
