The Search and Calendar Function
From our study of how Locum Legalis users work the app, we noted the following:
- Many think all MOB requests are put up in the Search page to be accepted by willing Locums.
- Not many understand how the Calendar function works.
Let’s start with the Calendar function.

The Calendar is where a Locum would register her availability to attend MOB requests by date, session (AM or PM), place (multiple) and duration. If you want to MOB for others, register your availability first.
Why? Because Locum Legalis’ strength is its ability to match MOB requests with Locums. If you register your availability, any MOB request that is made that matches your availability would go to you first.
What if there are others who also put exactly the same date, session, etc. as me? Then priority would be judged by who registered their availability first.
What happens if there are no matches? Unmatched MOB requests are sent to the Search pool for interested Locums to accept.

Are all MOB requests posted on the Search page? No. Only the unmatched MOB requests are posted there. Matched requests do not show up. So an empty Search screen is actually an indicator of efficiency i.e. MOB requests are immediately paired up instead of falling into the Search pool.
Why is there a 20 day limit on registering as a Locum? For 3 reasons.
Firstly, we deliberately made it ‘cumbersome’ in the hope that the work would be spread around.
Secondly, we hope Locum users are fully aware of the details they enter. Having to repeat the process we hope would jog awareness.
Finally, to strike a balance between convenience and potential damage control. The easier it is to make yourself available so often, if a mistake happens, the wider the damage to deal with.
So please check your dates and make sure you attend MOB requests you accepted.
And never take too many at a time.
