Bryce Harper’s ejection is good for baseball
Bryce Harper has it all. The rugged good looks, the astonishing athletic ability, and of course the hair. Put all of this together and you have who many consider to be the face of baseball. He could be just the guy to help bring baseball’s popularity back to it’s peak.
In today’s world of shrinking attention spans where everything is literally at the palm of our hands, many people struggle to sit down for a full nine innings. The biggest complaints from these people is that the game is too long, too boring and lacking in action. But there is one thing that gets every sports fan talking, whether they follow baseball or not, and it’s is a good brawl or a temper tantrum.
When guys like Harper are involved in intense moments such as last night it brings attention to the league — some would argue bad attention — but hey, all publicity is good publicity. The game needs to be trending more towards the younger generation, as they are the future fans of the game, and will in turn expose the game to their children. The younger generation doesn’t tend to care as much about the history and respect for the game, instead, they want some more action. When somebody is literally self imploding on your television screen, it is must see TV.
So rather than shaking your finger at Harper for losing his cool and not being a good example, I say applaud the man for bringing excitement to a game that can sometimes be lacking of just that.
