I know that Medium isn’t really the place for technical how-to guides. But we just got shook awake by a Magnitude 6.4 earthquake about 25 miles from our home in California. I hope everyone is safe, and I have loved seeing all the people out in the community this morning helping each other (especially with cleaning up, cellphone power, and coffee!).
The power is out, and will probably be out for at least the day, and that made me really want to share this with you. The reception after publishing To Catch the Sun with Joshua Pearce has been heartwarming. Tens of thousands of digital and physical copies are out there now and we love getting updates from projects that used the book to build their own resilient energy system. That said, the most common critical feedback/request for a more step-by-step version.
So, we made our first step by step guide for a small easy to build and easy to adapt system! The guide is replete with real images (taken by our intrepid intern Kyle Wolfe) matched with 3D versions (also made by Kyle) to make it easier to follow. We spent a lot of time beta testing the instructions and over 100 hands have been on the system giving feedback.
