A journal of Italian nostalgia
Italy is ageing. Old people, old customs, old stories, old promise. Its systems once made sense. Imagination wasn’t feared, it was the country’s protein. Memories of a previous existence live on in the scaffolding of city life. The living elements of this past — older people — are an ever-growing presence in the country’s streets.
This is the Old Country, where the spirit of nostalgia defines the future.
This project is a photographic meditation on the Old Country. It explores the fabric of this state of mind through fractions of conversations, observations, and speculation. All photos were taken on an iphone.
Old Country will be developed into a book in 2018.
