That’s an interesting analysis. I’m going to let it roll around in my head a bit. I totally get wanting to punish the child, believe me, I am very sympathetic. Your discussion feels a little too realpolitik — maybe too well rationalized — to be correct, like it’s a just-so story built to make our desired outcome likely. But then again, sometimes just-so stories happen. Either way, unless the DNC does something drastic soon, they will have utterly screwed themselves down the line no matter what happens.
