Background
When people think about fusion they probably think about fusion cuisine, like the act of putting tandoori chicken on a pizza topped with lutefisk or something ridiculous like that. However, down in the Philippines the group behind Bitspace had something completely different in mind (we think) when they started their accelerator Brainsparks.
Having spent their time working on 3 startups prior to Brainsparks, their team led by Lionel Belen and Artie Lopez, had the idea to put together an incubator. However, when posed with the question of how they could get faster and leaner while creating real impact, they realized that they wanted to create a more holistic approach to helping entrepreneurs aside from just providing funding. They decided to “fuse” together their accelerator with added mentorship and a larger coworking space in order to form a hub that could fully support entrepreneurship.
