5 Reasons Your Company Website Should Include Explainer Videos

No matter what your business is you can likely be doing a better job with video marketing. One place to think about having a video is on your website. This is likely the number one place customers come to understand who you are or to learn more about your business. After being involved with producing explainer videos for the last 5 years, at LooseKeys we’ve seen many clients benefit from having them. There are many advantages to having an explainer or demo video on your website but these seem to be the top 5 that are most apparent.

1. Increase Sales

There is no doubt that the number one reason many companies look to have a video created is to get more people to sign up or buy a product or service. Having some form of video draws people in and they are much more likely to move forward with that purchase or signup when they can see a video of the product or service.

According to an Invodo report; Video viewers are 1.6x more likely to buy and 96% of customers believe that video helps them make purchase decisions.

2. Explanation

People gain a better understanding of a service when they see and hear it explained. When most people see a wall of text their eyes just sort of skim through it all. Even something like this post would likely have more impact if accompanied by a short video. According to Nielsen Research, Training and Consulting Group, the average user spends about 10–20 seconds on a site if there is no compelling reason to stay longer.

An explainer video helps you connect better with the audience by explaining what it is you do or offer and why they should care. Don’t underestimate how valuable it is to just flat out show someone how it works instead of them trying to figure it out with bullet points and confusing text.

Only 20% of people remember the information they read and only 10% remember what they heard.
At the same time, 80% of people remember what they saw and what they did. Plus visual information is processed 60,000 times faster than text.
Healthcare and Cyber-security are industries that tend to be complicated and confusing. Many companies in these fields have come to us for our expertise in helping to create a video so people can understand these difficult topics. A great video can help get that message explained quickly.

3. Sharable

Social media is one of the best tools for any business and videos can be shared easily across a diverse array of platforms. On a daily basis, videos are being shared on social channels like Twitter and Facebook in real-time, allowing people with instant access to social networks, to post and share video content that they find engaging. Just the idea that a few fans who loved your video have the potential to market for you with their social reach is highly valuable.

Now, don’t think you’ll definitely be going viral with this sort of marketing strategy but just the idea that you will reach a few more people is great.

This was a video we worked on for the Rainforest Action Network. The goal of this video was to get this message out to as many people as possible to help make a difference. A brochure or single image would not have been shared as many times as something like this video.

4. SEO

Websites that contain endless pages of text and generic stock images often rank low in Google search results. Google likes seeing video on your website and will often rank it higher in search results because of this.

According to Gigamon, videos are 53 times more likely than text pages to show up on the first page of search results.

Although Google can’t detect what’s happening in the video, yet… they do know that a video will likely contain more valuable information for the audience and make the information about you easier for someone to understand.

5. Professionalism

Having a video for your product or service shows that you are invested in your business and the marketing of it. Videos show customers and future investors that you’re truly committed to the business… at least enough to make a video. This will lead to trust and a better understanding of your brand.

A video we worked on with Fetzer Vineyards shows how committed they are to their customers, employees and the environment.
