Hiring A Professional Voice Over For Your Video

If you’re utilizing an explainer video for your business, you’re probably going to include voice-over — whether it’s an animated explainer video OR live action. Hearing the video is almost as important as seeing a video; actually, it may be more important. Good audio can indeed make a production shine, and bad sound design can destroy it. At the same time, just having your audio on point and not executing the other elements of the video adequately, won’t save your explainer either. The poorly produced sound will make even the best visually impressive video seem unprofessional.
There are some cases where having no voice-over can be effective, and we’ve been able to make this work on a few projects.
Videos without a voice over can pull people into the visuals of the world. However, ideas are not always easily conveyed using only visuals. As a marketing tool, you might want to think about engaging all the viewer’s senses, especially since you have very little time to get someone’s attention on the internet, so make sure it looks and sounds good.
You’d be amazed how big of a difference clear, and crisp audio will make in your production. If the sound quality is on point, then the audience won’t even notice it. But if there are crackles, hums, pops, or if it has bad audio levels, this will distract in some way, and the audience can perceive it. Just like with stunning visual effects, the key is to help improve the story and not to take away from it.
The quality of your explainer video is vital for your marketing because it represents your brand. Aside from the great visuals, a nicely recorded voice-over can mean the difference between a professional video and a not-so-credible one.
Now, we all can’t have a Morgan Freeman golden voice that is impressive when reading everything, so you’ll need to hire a professional voiceover talent for your video. At LooseKeys we have a room where we record podcasts, but it’s nothing to the level of the facilities that some of these voice over artists maintain. It makes sense for LooseKeys to not bother with an official recording room or sound booth in our studio and instead have the talent focus on the technical aspects of the recording themselves.
The website we use at LooseKeys to search for VO artists the most is voices.com, it’s an online marketplace that connects you with professional voice over talents. You can upload your script to the site, and you’ll hear back and get auditions from many talented people in a short amount of time.
Another site is voice123.com, which is a reliable resource if you don’t want to use voices.com. (But we haven’t had a lot of experience with it). With both these options (Voices.com & Voice123.com) featuring talent at a reasonable rate, there is no excuse not to make sure your video sounds as exceptional as it looks.
The voice-over for your video can create a particular mood, communicate a feeling, and convey personality. Working with the talent from either one of these sites have been on the whole, a positive experience. Most are very friendly, professional and understand the significance of being the voice of your brand. There have only been a couple of times where there have had negative experiences, and as a result, we just don’t book those people again.
If you’re looking to have an explainer video created, then start thinking about the tone and style early. At LooseKeys we’ll typically handle this process for the videos we’re producing, but if you’re a freelancer doing video work or a small business on a budget, hopefully, some of this insight was helpful.
