What function does Medium serve for you?

(Day 4 of the 30-day writing challenge. I’m doing better this time already than my November attempt.)

I talked to my dad on the phone the other day and recommended Medium. He asked how it can be monetized or whether it’s just a way to give away your writing for free.

I told him that some tools for monetization are in the works, but we don’t know what they are or when they will be available.

My own goal here is not to make money, but to get back into the flow of writing a lot and re-learn the discipline of writing something every single day.

It doesn’t seem likely he will use Medium in any serious way. We both write for pay.
