Sales is a Weird Profession

Being in sales is weird.

In order to be successful at it, you must have passion for whatever you’re selling.

When someone says “no” to what you’re selling it feels like they’re saying “no” to you personally because the passion you have for it means that you also care about it.

It’s weird trying to find the balance between having passion and not taking rejection personal.

And then sales requires you to hustle and at times to act push back when customers are trying to push you out the door.

You have to hustle and when someone dislikes you and feels that your hustle is to pushy, you can’t let their disdain for your approach to the work you do derail your motivation for hustling each and every day.

Finding the balance of being passionate while not taking things personal and making things happen where the attention is while still not caring what people think about you is weird.

Once you find that balance and are comfortable with being in a weird place, you’ve found success.
