Why Expect More Than the Minimum?

Doing the minimum is the quickest way to having the minimum.

When I mean “having the minimum” I not only mean the minimum wage or the minimum amount of assets, I also mean the minimum standard of living.

When you just do what the instructions say, when you just do what the syllabus says, when you just do what needs to be done and head out the door at 5 o’clock or whatever time your shift ends, why would you expect anything more?

Why would you expect anything more from yourself? Going above and beyond pushes you above and beyond where you were yesterday.

Sure going above and beyond takes more time, more effort, more work, but on the other side of going above and beyond is more strength, more perspective and more capacity to do a better job the next time around.
