Getting co-creative with research

The article deals with two stages in the design process (Research and Definition):

1/ Research stage

  • Map : People are invited to draw a map inspired by a day-in-the-life exercise from start to finish. We can see how they think of their projects in their own terms, think about wording problems :) After it helps the team see what people are experiencing good and bad using a red marker to show where they have problems.
  • Key problem and impacts: People are also invited to describe in a short sentence a key problem and all the impacts it has.

2/ Define stage

  • Co-creative UI kit and feedbacks: What’s a co-creative UI kit? It is all the design elements used at Dropbox starting from little elements (icons) to the bigger ones (buttons, dropdown menu,…). After having all those elements it’s time to ask for feedback. So you ask your users to reorganize elements depending on their motivation. You are not going to replicate their designs. Indeed after several users, you can analyze their behavior and then think about the ideal solution. 🚀
