Day 10 — Effects of seismic blasting and the future of Lofoten
On Tuesday we met with Heike Vester from Ocean Sounds. For the past 10 years, she’s been tracking and following sea mammals in the Vestfjord and the surrounding oceans of Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja. She shared with us her findings and what seems to be direct effects on these creatures from the Norwegian government and oil companies’ seismic activity.
Later in the day we met with Nora and Ming from Kabelvåg and Svolvær, to talk to them about what they hope for the future of this region.
