Well written. I am also turned off from the Democratic party because of its insistence on identity politics. And I agree that it is insulting for people to assume that you would support someone simply because of racial background. Ideas and behavior are what matter most. I have become a supporter of Andrew Yang because he is speaking to something higher in people. His “humanity first” approach is something that can win a national election. A candidate like Kamala’s approach of identity first is not only flawed, it simply does not win national elections. Liberals have to learn how to empathize with people who are not like them (conservative leaning people) and see a bigger and more balanced picture. For me, the priority should be to avoid Trump’s reelection at all costs, but sadly I am not seeing this realization from most of the Democratic candidates. They seem to be making the same mistake that they made in 2016.
And I think it is safe to say that if Yang manages to win the nomination, he will win the election.
