It was not a day like any other, had been waiting with many cravings that December 23 arrived for a long time. The economic and social situation that exists today in my country, Venezuela, is not easy. With 19 years I am part of the generation of brains that decide to go to find opportunities and quality of life. Not everyone can do, those who leave is because they can not even study what they want here. My best friend had no choice, decided to go with her dreams, energy and hope to Spain, San Sebastian. Many jokes repeated again and again until the tongue hurts that Caracas is a city of farewells. Of course, many of us, in recent years we have become accustomed. It is not uncommon to have family and friends abroad. There are large numbers of people who miss their land and their people. The heat, the food and the weather did not go unnoticed. Although not want to admit it, you always miss your country if you are outside. Without thinking twice, Silvana (my best friend), purchased her ticket with his own savings to reconnect with the country where she was born. They say that the best decisions are those that are not much think.
I got up very early in the morning for breakfast and do my daily exercise. My energy was a hundred. No one could take my good humor, it was me against the world. On my way to the airport after a stare in the window I began to remember the good times. The memories that live in me. Having kilometers away to a person who has lived with you since your first steps is a blow. Anxiety and nerves controlled me while we waited for the famous door immigration appeared. Everywhere i see were people, I did not expect, it is assumed that few who had the opportunity to travel return to the country. But in Christmas, families are forced together. Balloons, banners, flowers and faces that taught all teeth. You could read the emotions. Parents, friends, couples awaiting the arrival of the person who miss the 11 months of the year. I was no exception, despite my stature, jumping like a child looking for my friend who could appear at any time. 3 screens located warned me that his flight had arrived, it was not long to see it. You know that the first to migrate from one country are young, but seeing a lot of them coming to see their families left me with a bitter taste. They had lots of luggage, families need basic products and did not hesitate to help them. Sobs and sobs echoed the place, laughter and joy everywhere. Had finally touched me, Silvana appeared at the door and in a trice started running for it. His face was a poem, tears of joy ran down her face. 1 year and 4 months fell short when we met, everything remained the same. The best part was when she could hug her little sister, her smile could infect anyone. Being outside and miss those golden years makes you think of the sacrifice to get ahead.
Maintain a distance friendship has it’s complications. Imagine having something important to say and your friend is sleeping because this takes hours apart. Those days when we need a shoulder and just have FaceTime promises proximity, in the end we all know that is not the same. Celebrations, birthdays, holidays on the calendars and their absences are remembered. Millions of people spend all day in the same situation as me, not only in Venezuela but worldwide. The most important thing is to work to maintain the relationship, there must be compromise on both sides. If it is a sister to you, believe you are not going to lose her. Who knows if one day you may work in the same city and even better live together.
Hopefully one day soon, let’s lay our loved ones at the airport and return all the brains and talents to build a better country. Learn from our mistakes and recover our values and education. People not separated by distance.
