Mediocrity is a sin!!
“Step out of the crowd of average people. Enter that game and change the values on the scoreboard.”
One of the things most people are petrified about most in life is mediocrity.
Life is too precious to be lived in patchiness.
In fact it is a golden opportunity, and we should use it as good as we can. A lot of people live their life like- doing alright, not entirely comfortable… but not bothered enough to do anything about it.
Problem with life is that it doesn’t come with an instruction book, and knowing how to get through it unscathed is quite a challenge. So up until now like every other individual, even I thought I was special or had the potential of climbing to the top. But as inevitable as the tides everyone must eventually grow up to realize that, there is nothing one truly excel at and therefore is destined to a life of mediocrity.
Now I am having some trouble and a hard time accepting the fact that I do not have any outstanding talent, my name will not be remembered nor written in any history books. Heck!! when I die nobody will probably remember me at all, and the thought of that just depresses me as I have always been a believer in
“Either you are best or you are trash.”There is no middle ground.
Then I wonder -Is it just me, or is the whole “fitting in” thing highly overrated? Yes, there’s a certain comfort in going with the flow, being one of many, and following the same path as millions before us. Yes, it’s easier to not be stupid and put ourselves way out on a ledge and risk our predictable and stable life. Yes, it’s fun to fantasize about one day someone walks in and “discovers” our hidden brilliance and plucks us from our normal life and drops us into the one of our dreams.

Not being a titan among men isn’t being mediocre. An average person is a perfectly fine thing to be, because there are too many roles in this world for everyone to be at the top. No matter how stable or secure we think our situation is, everything can change in an instant. I mean, no, one don’t have to be a daredevil, quit everything, and go run away in an RV — not that kind of drastic — but would a little change and excitement be that bad?
Sometimes a little risk might even make us more secure. So, embark on your quest to stretch your comfort zone and explore different ways to expand the horizons. Mediocrity is a horrible insidious trap, because it doesn’t quite give us the discomfort to get us moving and changing. Living a great life doesn’t mean influencing millions of people or being famous or being super-rich. At least not for everyone.
For me living a great life is about living in alignment with my values and doing something I love. A great life is when I wake up excited every morning, and go to sleep content every night. A great life is when we know we’ve done a great job each day, each week… and that we’re truly living the life we want. Isn’t that worth changing for? Facing a bit of discomfort?
Life is too precious to be lived in mediocrity.
Don’t you think???
