I’m 64 years old and I’ve been fighting a losing battle against the corporization of our political, societal and economic life for almost 50 years. Something the Republican president Eisenhower warned us against almost 60 years ago. Rarely mentioned these days. Mostly within the trade unions and the antiwar movement. I have never voted GOP and the first time I voted for a Democratic Party candidate was in 2008, and very, very reluctantly in 2012.
Bernie’s the first and last candidate in all that time who “could” have stopped this incremental process of destroying what’s left of our remaining Republican and democratic values. These values are about to dissappear completely no matter who the candidate is, Democratic or Republican. And it’s hardly a secret that Corporate America and the 1% would prefer that candidate to be Hillary Clinton. Goldman Sachs said as much. Northrop too.
This is no longer having to chose between the lesser of two evils. All the candidates are evil in their own way. Choosing between a racist, a rwnj and a proven warmonger is no choice at all. I will not be complicit to electing any of the three remaining candidates.
The most dangerous of the three (for now at least) is Clinton, the favorite of the banks and the weaponry peddlers. If elected she will chose for a confrontation with the new still rising superpower China, the world’s biggest industrial powerhouse.
The “Pivot”, sorry, “Rebalance to China” is Clinton’s proudest achievement as SoS. (The TPP is an integral part of that Pivot). We’ve already got most of our navy in and around the South China Sea, in other words the Chinese front yard. And Clinton will have to move quickly. The window of opportunity to strike China is closing fast. It will be too late by 2020. Preceded of course by a new and highly profitable arms race to end all arms races. It will bankrupt us. (it will bankrupt China too). Social Security will have to be sacrificed or perhaps privatized amongst many other things. Probably even a dreaded tax hike for the already long-suffering working and middle classes.
Look up “Thucidedes Trap “ There’s a rather excellent article written by a historian in the magazine “The Atlantic”. It’s very long article as the historical background of the so-called “Thucidedes Trap “ needs some explaining but it’s certainly well worth reading. If need be I’ll forward this article written in 2014 to anyone who requests it via my Twitter account. Tom Engelhardt is already warning that we’re on the verge of a second nuclear “Apocalypse 2.0".
I will be voting for Dr Jill Stein and the Green Party. Any other mainstream alternative is unthinkable.
