HAMccelerator Day 2

Today the crew worked on blueprints and setting goals for this week. We also put in place a minimum threshold goal, so that if it isn’t complete, you aren’t aloud to come back. It sounds strict, but it makes sure everyone is working hard, which is imperative to a successful accelerator.

The students are beginning to diverge in terms of where they are at in the tutorials. That is to be expected, but I hope some stay together so that we have enough computers for everyone to work on (we need some to stay in pairs)! I had to lend my computer to Dylan so that he could work at his own pace today. I really hope he manages to stay in the program, but he’s struggling to stay focused.

I made it a goal to switch off pairing with people every day. I think that is a good way to teach things 1 on 1 as we learn together. I also taught a brief tutorial on everything they did in Lesson 2. I got a little side tracked and lost a good opportunity to teach more about vector math, but I think it was helpful for everyone to watch someone who is expereienced with unreal do some basic things.

Until next time.
