Last Time Out: The Clinton LumberKings rallied for five runs in the ninth inning to come from behind and beat the Burlington Bees 7–5 at Community Field on Thursday night. Clinton (28–32, 59–68) ran their winning streak to four games with the win, and completed just their second sweep of the season. Burlington (25–35, 56–73) led throughout the game. Richie Fecteau homered for the second time in the series in the bottom of the first inning giving the Bees a lead they would not relinquish until the ninth inning. The Bees added to the lead with a run in the second inning but saw the LumberKings come back with two runs in the top of the third. Jhombeyker Morales singled home two runs to pull Clinton to within one. The single was part of a 3-for 5 night at the plate for Morales who represented all of the Lumberkings offense through the first eight innings. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bees reclaimed their three-run lead with a two-run rally. Fecteau and Sam McDonnell drove in the runs for Burlington.

3 for the road: The road has been unkind to the LumberKings this season. Retutring to Clinton following a seven-game road trip the LumberKings are 28–39 away from Ashford University Field, but ended the road stint with their first road four-game winning streak of the season.

A blip on the radar: Wednesday’s 1–0 Clinton win was one of the rarest of the year for the LumberKings as it game when the team scored less than three runs. It marked just the second time this year that Clinton won on the road when scoring less than three runs they are now 2–33 in such scenarios.

Comeback kids: Thursday night looked to be a loss for the Clinton LumberKings as they trailed 5–2 heading into the ninth. Clinton loaded the bases but were down to their final out in a 5–3 game when Gareth Morgan tripled off the wall in center to complete the LumberKings come from behind win. Over the last 11 games Clinton is are 9–2 with six of the wins coming in come from behind fashion.

Snake killer: Yojhan Quevedo has been THE most successful LumberKings this season against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. In nine games, he is hitting .421 (16–38) to go with two home runs and nine RBI.

August rush: Thursday’s win was the 12th of the month for the LumberKings who are threating to do something they have not done this season and finish month at or above .500. The team is now 12–11 during the month of the August with an impressive 9–6 mark on the road.

This date in baseball history: On this date in 1929, the Giants become the first team to employ a public address system when they place a microphone inside the mask of connected home plate umpire Charles Rigler. The team’s effort to have the ump broadcast ball-and-strike calls to the Polo Grounds crowd doesn’t work very well.

Broadcast Information: All games will be broadcast live on 100.3 FM WCCI and online at LumberKings.com via the TuneIn Radio App with Erik Oas, in his first season as the “Voice of the LumberKings.”
