Enchanting Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Gardens

Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan gardens are steeped in history, and one of the most impressive sights in Warwickshire. The ruins are set in scenic parkland and the newly recreated gardens are enchanting.

Created by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester in an attempt to woo Queen Elizabeth I, this medieval fortress is an English Heritage property. I lived in Kenilworth for a while as a child, and we used to love running around the grassy moats and hiding in the nooks and crannies. These days, there’s even more for children to do, with puzzles and activities and even a knights and princesses academy.

We ventured to Kenilworth on a rather stormy day, but managed to take some photos in between the thunder showers. Hopefully the clouds add to the dramatic backdrop of the castle!
