Hi Sarah,

Pink snow is not new. There have been reports of pink snow since Aristotle, but we do suspect that it is becoming more common with climate change. There is some preliminary data suggesting that the blooms are occurring earlier in the season and covering more of the surface of snow and ice. Testing that idea is one of our goals.
