Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2018, the mandatory MBA entrance exam for admission to MBA/PGDM 2018–20 at XLRI, SPJIMR, XIMB, XIME, IMT and other more than 145 B-schools will be conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on January 7, 2018 as an online computer based test. This is the first time in more than 60 years history of XAT that the exam will be conducted as an online computer based test.

As XAT 2018 will be an online computer based test, what are the proposed changes in the exam format and pattern?
The basic format of XAT will remain same as was in previous years without any change this year.

Does it mean that XAT 2018 will have same components and test sections as earlier?
Yes, XAT 2018 will have similar pattern of the test sections with the only exception that it will be online computer based test.

Why the XAT 2018 is conducted in a single session?
XAT 2018 is a single sitting test as this will help us avoid normalization.

The last date to apply with late fee for XAT 2018 is not found?
The last date for application is November 30 without late fee and December 15 with late fee.

XAT has unique subjective Essay Writing test, what will be the mode of essay writing in XAT 2018 — on screen computer based or paper based? 
Though, we are ready for CBT essay writing test but for this year XAT, the format of the essay will remain pen and paper based, which is same as last year.

What is your message to guide the aspirants in the revamped XAT 2018?
We wish them good luck! XAT is slightly more unconventional examination, presence of mind on the day of the examination hall can fetch a higher score.

​Online XAT 2018 will be held on January 7, 2018 in 3½ hours duration from 10AM to 1.35 PM. Online registration for XAT 2018 has been opened by XLRI, the XAT 2018 conducting institute on August 16 and will remain open till November 30 without late fee and till December 15 with late fee.

XAT 2018 exam will be divided in two parts. The first part with 72 questions will have 3 sections on Verbal Ability & Logical reasoning; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation. The score in this part will determine your percentile and merit position. Part-2 will have 2 sections — General Awareness and Essay Writing Test. The scores in this part will not be taken into account to determine percentile score. Except Essay Writing all the sections will have questions in MCQ format.

XLRI has changed and revamped the XAT 2018 exam pattern from paper pen based to online computer based test. Sharing about the changed pattern of XAT 2018 exam XLRI had earlier informed informed “Mode of Examination is Online.”

XLRI conducts XAT on behalf of the XAMI. For more than 60 years XLRI is conducting XAT in paper pen mode at all India level to select the most appropriate students for management education. The XAT 2018 score will be used by more than 150 institutes for the admission.
