Manchester Codes is the UK's only full-stack, Part-Time Coding Bootcamp proudly based in the heart of Manchester city centre. Our students attend two evening classes per week (Mon & Wed or Tues & Thur), as well as completing 14–20 hours of additional work remotely. Here’s what your evening might look like:

18:30 — Stand Up

On a Monday/Tuesday the class starts with a group discussion of the weekly challenge — what went well, what obstacles you faced, and how you will plan to overcome them.

18:40 — Lecture/workshop

We work iteratively, meaning our lesson plans are updated regularly to suit the needs of the cohort at any given time. The session will always start with either theory/tool-based lectures or group exercises where we work through problems together e.g. collaborating together to make a quiz game.

19:40 — Snack time!

We provide hot & cold refreshments plus some tasty treats to keep you going.

19:50 — Pair Programming

This gives the students a chance to get started on the week’s walkthrough and exercises, with the instructors on-hand to answer any questions. The students work in pairs using one computer — one person (the driver) types the code and the other (the navigator) guides their partner and reviews their code. Partners switch roles after every significant feature.

9:20 — Retro

On a Wednesday/Thursday we end the week’s classes with a retrospective — this is your chance to provide feedback on the lectures/materials/your progress and let us know what you want more/less of so we can continue to make the course better.

The rest of the week is down to you! We expect you to put in another 20 hours of work outside of class to be able to work through the course material, but our instructors are always on-hand to help answer your questions on Slack.

If you’d like to know more about the course, please get in touch, we’d love to answer your questions: team@mcr.codes.

We are taking applications for our next cohort — find out more at https://www.manchestercodes.com/
