The latest USDA guidelines do not endorse a vegetarian pattern of eating. They promote the consumption of fishes and other aquatic animals, as does the Mediterranean Diet. Switching from eating cows, pigs, and poultry to instead eating aquatic animals tends to harm far more sentient animals, including the countless animals who are caught and killed as bycatch.
