Brandon Dillon Reelected MDP Chair as Thousands Attend State Convention

DETROIT — More than 5,000 Michigan Democrats attended the Party’s Spring State Convention on Saturday, February 11th, at Cobo Center in Detroit. 4,126 of those in attendance were credentialed delegates (voting-eligible members) tasked with electing the Michigan Democratic Party’s leadership, as well as officers for their respective caucuses and districts.

Current MDP Chair Brandon Dillon was reelected to the position for a two-year term. Following his reelection, Dillon declared, to the thousands in attendance, “when we again make it clear to everyone that, without question, the Democratic Party’s purpose is, and has always been, the people — the working women, men, and families; the students, seniors, and veterans; everyone who supports fairness and equality and believes that getting ahead doesn’t mean someone else must be left behind — when we accomplish that, when we come together, when we do the work and follow the blueprint, we will have built a better, stronger Michigan Democratic Party.”

The Party’s statutory officers, also chosen at the State Convention, include Nancy Quarles (1st Vice Chair), Mark LaChey (2nd Vice Chair), Fay Beydoun (3rd Vice Chair), Rosendo Rocha (4th Vice Chair), Misha Stallworth (Youth Vice Chair), Sandra Hughes O’Brien (Treasurer), Nathan Triplett (Parliamentarian), Amanda Mayer (Corresponding Secretary), and Kevin Tolbert (Recording Secretary).
