Dems Continue Call for Michigan Republicans to Renounce Trump After Allegations of Assault

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, continuing their call for Michigan Republicans to stand with Michigan women and renounce their support of Donald Trump following the release of the 2005 recording in which he brags about sexually assaulting women, along with new information from women who have come forward accusing Trump of groping them or attempting to kiss them without their consent:

“After hearing Donald Trump’s reprehensible talk of sexually assaulting women, it really comes as no surprise to find out that, when comes to his sickening comments, he walks the walk too,” said Brandon Dillon, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. “What is surprising, though, is that anyone with an ounce of decency would continue to support a depraved individual like Donald Trump for president. Yet Michigan Republicans, like Bill Schuette, Mike Bishop, Tim Walberg, David Trott, Jack Bergman, and every one of their candidates for the State House, still refuse to drop their support for him.

“The women who continue to come forward to share their stories of Donald Trump’s repulsive acts against them are courageous individuals. We’re not asking Michigan Republicans to show any courage at all. We’re simply calling on them to do what’s right and renounce their support of Donald Trump and his abhorrent views and disgusting treatment of women. They can no longer hide behind their excuses of hypothetical appointments to the Supreme Court or that they ‘ride for the brand’ like Bill Schuette. Donald Trump is happening right now and what he believes, what he stands for, and the things he’s said and done to women, make him one-hundred percent unfit and unworthy of being a major party’s nominee for president, let alone President of the United States.”
