James, Young Stay Silent on GOP U.S. Senate Nominee Roy Moore Sex Abuse Scandal

LANSING — Five women have now come forward accusing Alabama Republican U.S. Senate nominee Roy Moore of sexually abusing them as teenagers, yet Michigan U.S. Senate candidates Bob Young and John James have kept silent regarding the accusations and mounting evidence against the man with whom they want to serve in the Senate.

Steve Bannon, the former chief strategist to President Trump and current executive chairman of the alt-right website, Breitbart News, says he’s still “standing with” Moore. On Monday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) called for Moore to leave the Senate race. However, James and Young have refused to criticize Moore, just as they continue to remain silent on whether they stand with Steve Bannon. Even GOP mega-donor Sheldon Adelson has publicly severed ties with Bannon over his support of Moore.

“It’s time for U.S Senate candidates John James and Bob Young to show the bare minimum of decency and leadership by condemning Roy Moore and calling for him to do the right thing by dropping out of the race,” said Michigan Democratic Party Chair Brandon Dillon.
