MDP Response to Latest CBO Score of Republican Health Care Bill
Report shows 23 million losing insurance, costs skyrocketing under House Republican health care plan

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party released the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, in response to the Congressional Budget Office’s latest assessment of the American Health Care Act (AHCA), which passed the House with only Republican votes earlier this month:

“Once again, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has confirmed that the Republican health care bill, kept alive by Congressman Fred Upton, and passed with unanimous support from Michigan Republicans in Congress, is an absolute disaster,” said Brandon Dillon, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. “This toxic bill was dead in the water until Fred Upton rode to the rescue. Instead, 23 million people now stand to lose health care, while seniors would be forced to pay skyrocketing costs and individuals with pre-existing conditions would lose vital protections. Democrats will never stop fighting to keep this immoral bill from becoming law, and we will continue to hold Republicans like Fred Upton, Mike Bishop, and Dave Trott accountable for selling out the people of Michigan.”
