MDP Statement on Decision to Cancel Trumpcare Vote

LANSING — The Michigan Democratic Party issued the following statement today, on behalf of Party Chair Brandon Dillon, regarding Donald Trump and Paul Ryan’s decision to pull the Republican health care repeal bill and cancel the vote, after it became clear they did not have enough votes for it to pass:

“It’s a good day for everyone who believes health care in this country should be a right and not the privilege of a select few who can afford it,” said Brandon Dillon, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party. “Trumpcare failed because of the millions of people throughout the country who knew it was a disaster and reached out to their representatives to make their voices heard. If Republicans cared about health care, they would sit down with Democrats to improve and strengthen what’s already clearly working with Obamacare. Hopefully today was a wakeup call, and they realize it’s time to start putting people over politics.”
